Tommy “T.C.” Calvert is a veteran organizer, activist, entrepreneur, and visionary. With over forty years of experience in community organizing, he is a skilled tactician and strategist, driving positive change in communities. Currently, Calvert serves as Vice-President of Marketing & Advertising for KROVFM.COM, San Antonio Community Radio Inc.; President of Neighborhoods First Alliance; Chairman of the Fair Contracting Coalition; Chairman of the Bexar County Voting Rights Coalition; and a member of the County Tricentennial Committee.
As a key founder and fundraiser for San Antonio’s KROVFM.COM, Calvert raised over a quarter-million dollars to launch the station. He continues to secure sponsorships and funding as Vice-President, managing logistics and live events, including the annual Martin Luther King Jr. March.
As President of Neighborhoods First Alliance, a grassroots coalition of 27 organizations representing 40,000 families in Bexar County, Calvert has secured millions for housing, infrastructure, health facilities, and environmental improvements. His work with local banks led to securing over $90 million in Community Reinvestment Agreements for inner-city neighborhoods.
Calvert also chairs the Fair Contracting Coalition, helping minority- and women-owned businesses increase government contracts and financing through advocacy and networking. His community efforts include advocating for predatory lending ordinances and leading efforts that led to significant reductions in crime in various San Antonio neighborhoods.
Career Highlights and Accomplishments
• As a concert promoter, Calvert founded T.C. Productions, working with major entertainment companies and artists across Texas and neighboring states.
• He produced major outdoor festivals for the Eastside San Antonio Economic Development Council, including the “Take Pride in the Eastside Festival,” and “Summerfest,” attracting tens of thousands of attendees.
• Calvert served as Vice-President of Advertising & Marketing for KROVFM.COM, voted “Best Music Radio Station” by San Antonio Current.
National Accomplishments
Calvert’s work with National People’s Action helped shape the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act, bringing millions of dollars to inner-city neighborhoods across the U.S. He played key roles in passing asset forfeiture legislation and establishing Drug-Free School Zones. Calvert also led national efforts for environmental justice, advocating for clean-ups and improved air quality standards through partnerships with the EPA and Congress.

• As Chairman of the Fair Contracting Coalition, Calvert continues to support local small businesses through advocacy and education.
• His work with the Department of Justice and Westcare Foundation focuses on crime prevention in high-risk areas.
